FAQ

  • When you first arrive, I will come downstairs to meet you and show you to the studio. Inside, we’ll have a  brief chat so I can learn about your preferences and any areas of tension or discomfort. If it’s your first time, we’ll fill out a simple consultation form to ensure I’m aware of any special needs or important medical history. If you need a comfort break before we begin, the toilet is just next door.

    Together we’ll agree on what sort of treatment sounds right for you, and I’ll leave the room to allow you get undressed to your comfort level and get onto the couch.

    I’ll then come back inside and begin your massage, ensuring you’re draped with towels for privacy and comfort, so you can fully relax. I only ever exposing the part of the body that I’m working on and will always listen to your feedback on pressure and comfort during the massage.

    I’ll use a range of techniques and pressures to help relieve tension and stress in your body, as soothing music and scented oils help to relax you further.

    At the end of the session, I’ll leave the room again so that you have the privacy to get dressed in your own time before you go about your day.

    Can I talk during my massage?

    Of course! Some people like to sink into blissfully quiet relaxation, while others enjoy talking! It’s completely up to you. I always encourage you to communicate with me if you would like me to change pressure during the massage, or if you feel any discomfort.

    What should I do if I feel uncomfortable, dizzy or faint during my massage?

    If you feel any pain, discomfort, or feel unwell at all during your massage, please let me know so that I can adjust positions or techniques and help you to feel better.

  • I’m pregnant?

    Yes! Massage can support the changing needs of your body during pregnancy. Please do always check with your GP or midwife first- but if your healthcare providers have not advised you against massage, then it is a fabulous way to ease the stress and strain that pregnancy places on your body.

    I have sensitive skin?

    Absolutely. I have unscented waxes and plain grape seed oil, both of which are nourishing and gentle on sensitive skin.

    I have sensory needs?

    Yes. Almost every element of the practice can be modified to accommodate sensory needs- from lighting, to background music, room temperature, pressure variation, clothed options, and frequent check-ins…you name it! Just let me know during our initial consultation, or ahead of time if you prefer, so that I can make the experience as smooth as possible for you.

    I have a pre-existing medical condition?

    You can almost always still enjoy massage if you have a chronic health condition or existing injury, and in many cases, massage therapy can be beneficial to pain management and recovery. Sometimes, I may need to make adjustments to massage you safely and comfortably, but it is rarely the case that existing conditions are a barrier to therapy. When you first come to see me, we’ll discuss your medical history and address any adjustments or considerations that I might need to make in relation to this.

    I can’t get to your studio?

    Yes. I have a portable couch and can travel to you. If you would like to book a remote massage, please email or call first before making a booking.

  • Do you do mobile appointments?

    Yes. I have a portable couch and can do mobile appointments on request. To book a mobile appointment, please call or email.

    How do I book a weekend appointment?

    I do massages on Saturdays by request- if you would like to book a weekend appointment, please call or drop me an email and we’ll arrange a time that suits you.

  • I want everyone to feel comfortable visiting me. Unfortunately, my space is not wheelchair accessible, and the WC facilities are gendered.

    However, I offer mobile massages and am happy to work with you to find a setup that suits your needs. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch!

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

    I accept bank transfer or cash payment, and take payment at the appointment.
